Non-playing days provide the opportunity to participate in Foundation of Goodness (FoG) activity schemes and community aid programs within Seenigama Village. This way schools can see the fruits of the project they are supporting.
Inspired by the rejuvenation in the village, the Foundation is now developing a Learning and Empowerment Institute in the north-west to help rebuild community life post-civil war. All participating international schools are encouraged to fund-raise prior to arrival and donations are then specifically distributed to the northern institute’s sports academy, which holds hopes of developing into an international cricket venue.
Thanks to our close relationships within Sri Lankan cricket and Austin Management Limited, the leading athlete management company in the island, Red Dot can happily offer schools practical assistance with initiatives for fund-raising leading up to the tournament.
The Foundation of Goodness
Since the 2004 tsunami the Foundation has established itself as a beacon of sustainable rural development. The aim is to narrow the gap between urban and rural life in Sri Lanka by tackling poverty through productive activities. The FoG project in Seenigama provides essential facilities and programmes that benefit 20,000 people from over 25 villages free of cost.

Community Days
Foundation activities include Karate and yoga classes, school sports sessions and snorkelling and diving lessons. Community days include aid programs such as sharing experiences with the characters of the village, school class visits and coastline and temple maintenance. Murali Cup players can get together to their evening Masterclass sessions after each day spent in the community. A handpicked team of Sri Lanka’s current and former international stars, alongside top Sri Lankan Cricket qualified coaches, are available to run practical coaching classes; each one focusing on the various disciplines of the game.
Evening Seminars
On both community days, we have invited special guest speakers to talk to schools about the game. The stars from the Masterclass sessions can share their experiences and lecture on the art of captaincy. There are also forums given by SLCB team physios on cricket fitness and diet. Players will also receive a talk on the Spirit of Cricket on behalf of the MCC.
